Things to Do in Seoul 2026: Seoul Forest + Seongsu-dong (Seoul's Brooklyn) + 어린달 — The Day That Changes How You See Korea

by 자크&엔조 2026. 5. 9.

Looking for things to do in Seoul that go beyond the tourist itinerary? Seoul Forest → Seongsu-dong → 어린달 is the sequence. A world-class garden show drawing over a million visitors, a walk into Seoul's Brooklyn, and a bar with the Han River streaming across its entire wall. All connected by a single subway line — and most visitors to Seoul have no idea any of it exists.

🌿 Seoul Forest & The 2026 International Garden Show

Seoul Forest (서울숲) is a 1.2 million square metre urban park on the banks of the Han River — Seoul's answer to Central Park, but greener and less crowded. In May 2026, it's also home to the Seoul International Garden Show (서울국제정원박람회), transforming the park into an outdoor gallery of garden installations by landscape designers from around the world.

The 2026 theme is "Seoul, Green Soul" — fog gardens, floral tunnels, sculpted plantscapes, and elevated walkways that make you forget you're in a city of 10 million. The event runs through the end of May; earlier in the month means fresher blooms.

🎮 Pokémon Mega Festa — Also Running Now

The Pokémon Mega Festa runs alongside the garden show — celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary with interactive zones, photo spots, and Korea-exclusive merchandise. The fog zone installations and the Pokémon world aesthetic pair surprisingly well. Even if you're not a fan, the visuals are worth it.

🌙 어린달 — The Bar That Makes This Day Unforgettable

어린달 (meaning "young moon") is not a bar in the conventional sense. It's a Korean hansik cocktail bar where the entire back wall is a floor-to-ceiling display streaming live footage of the Han River — so you sit inside but feel like you're floating above the water. At night, with Seoul's skyline reflected on the Han, the effect is genuinely cinematic. This is one of the coolest bars in Seoul right now, and it happens to be in Seongsu-dong.

어린달 — the Han River streams across the entire wall. Seoul's most cinematic bar interior.

💡 Practical Tips

  • T-money card: Get one at the airport (convenience store inside arrivals). Tap in, tap out — no tickets, no queues.
  • Best time for the garden show: Weekday mornings, before noon. Weekend afternoons are crowded.
  • Seoul Forest admission: The park is free. The International Garden Show has a separate ticket — check the official site.
  • 어린달 tip: Arrive by 7–8pm to get a good seat with the Han River display visible. It gets busy on weekends.
  • Seongsu-dong walking: Wander off the main street — the converted factory alleyways have the best finds.

❓ FAQ

Q. Is this area English-friendly?
성수라 and 제제 both have visual menus / QR ordering. 어린달 is more local but staff are helpful — the menu has pictures and the drinks sell themselves.

Q. Can I do Seoul Forest and Seongsu-dong in a half-day?
Yes — park 2hrs + lunch 1hr + neighbourhood 1hr = out by 3pm. Or stay for 어린달 and make it a full day.

Q. Is 어린달 only for drinking?
The food is genuinely good on its own — you don't need to drink to enjoy the space. But the Han River display, the 회 한상, and a bowl of makgeolli together is the intended experience.
